The Kyocera impact driver DID-183L5 is the flagship 18V brushless impact driver in the Kyocera range , Ryobi’s Japanese parent brand, engineered for professional fastener driving at 180Nm max torque (20% more than the Ryobi XID-150’s 150Nm and 3× the torque of Ryobi impact drills). Complete kit ships with two 5.0Ah batteries, charger, belt hook and carry case , ready for full-day contractor work without battery-swap downtime.
Built around a 6-divided segmented core brushless motor with a new impact mechanism that prevents cam-out (the fastener slippage that ruins screw heads and wastes time) plus a bit wobbling prevention structure that keeps the bit locked in true rotation for cleaner driving. Drives screws M4-M8, bolts M5-M16 and high-strength Teks screws M5-M14 at 3,500 impacts per minute. Lock-on trigger option for extended fastening runs. Lightweight compact design keeps the tool at 140×310×365mm despite the two-battery kit.
What the DID-183L5 Can Actually Do
Realistic use cases based on the Kyocera brushless motor, 180Nm impact torque and 1/4″ hex driver design:
- Driving structural bolts M5-M16 , 180Nm handles the biggest fasteners in the impact driver class
- Driving screws M4-M8 , segmented core motor delivers controlled torque for precise fastener depth
- Driving Teks self-drilling screws , 2,200-3,500 IPM impact for tough metal fastening
- Automotive & mechanical work , breaking free seized bolts, tightening chassis fasteners
- Deck & timber construction , no cam-out on long structural screws without pre-drilling
- All-day contractor use , two 5.0Ah batteries included = double the run-time before charging
Honest limits: this is an impact DRIVER, not an impact drill , it uses 1/4″ hex bits, not a 13mm chuck. For drilling holes in wood, steel or concrete, you need an impact drill instead. See the Kyocera DPD-181L5 hammer driver drill for the drilling equivalent in the same brushless range. For a lower-cost Ryobi impact driver at 150Nm bare tool, see the Ryobi XID-150.
