One flat rate per order. South African rates include 15% VAT. Rates for neighbouring countries carry no SA VAT; import duty, import VAT and clearing fees are paid in your country.
Road freight applies to items over 30 kg, longer than 1.5 m, or classed as hazardous; the product page tells you which applies. Trailers are delivered on a quote, because they travel on their own wheels or on a truck. Import duty, import VAT and clearing fees in your country are not included.
How a cross-border order works
- Order online. Choose your country at checkout. The 15% South African VAT comes off your total, and the delivery rate for your country is added.
- Pay by EFT. Your order confirmation shows our bank details; use your order number as the reference.
- We dispatch from Durban with the invoice and export documents your customs office needs, and send you the tracking details.
- You clear the goods at your border or through your clearing agent, paying your country’s import duty and VAT where they apply.
Countries we deliver to
Namibia
Namibia is in the Southern African Customs Union (SACU) with South Africa, so there is no customs duty on goods moving between the two. You pay Namibian import VAT to NamRA when the goods cross. Main road crossings from South Africa: Vioolsdrif to Noordoewer and Nakop to Ariamsvlei. The Namibian dollar is pegged 1:1 to the rand, so our price is your price.
Botswana
Botswana is a SACU member: no customs duty on goods from South Africa, and you pay Botswana import VAT to BURS at the border. Main crossings: Kopfontein to Tlokweng (for Gaborone), Groblersbrug to Martin’s Drift and Ramatlabama. Your bank converts the rand price to pula on the day you pay.
Zimbabwe
Zimbabwe is in SADC but not in SACU, so ZIMRA may charge import duty as well as VAT. Goods made in South Africa can qualify for reduced SADC duty when they travel with a SADC certificate of origin; ask us which items qualify before you order. The main crossing is Beitbridge.
Mozambique
Mozambique is in SADC but not in SACU, so Mozambican customs may charge import duty and VAT. A SADC certificate of origin can reduce duty on South African-made goods. The main crossing from South Africa is Lebombo to Ressano Garcia on the N4 to Maputo.
Lesotho
Lesotho is a SACU member: no customs duty, and you pay Lesotho import VAT to the Revenue Services Lesotho. Main crossings are Maseru Bridge and Ficksburg Bridge. The loti is pegged 1:1 to the rand.
Eswatini
Eswatini is a SACU member: no customs duty, and you pay import VAT to the Eswatini Revenue Service. From Durban the shortest route is the N2 through Golela to Lavumisa; Oshoek to Ngwenya serves Mbabane. The lilangeni is pegged 1:1 to the rand.
What we need from you
- Your full name or company name, a physical delivery address and a phone number that answers
- Your ID or passport number, or your company’s tax number, for the customs declaration
- The name of your clearing agent, if you use one. If not, we tell you who handles clearance at your border
Products with extra rules
- Agricultural remedies, seed and animal health products usually need an import permit or local registration in your country. We ship these across the border only once you confirm you hold the permit.
- Trailers must be registered in your country before they go on the road. Ask us which documents your licensing office needs before you order.
- Fuel, gas and hazardous goods travel by road freight only, with the dangerous-goods paperwork each border requires.
Prices, VAT and duty
All prices on the site are in South African rand and include 15% South African VAT. When you check out with an address in one of the six countries above, the VAT is removed because the goods are exported. Import duty, import VAT and clearing fees in your country are not included and are paid by you to your customs authority or clearing agent. Your customs authority or clearing agent can tell you the amounts before you order.
