Sizing it right
Generators are rated in kVA; your appliances are rated in watts. At the usual 0.8 power factor, 25 kVA gives you roughly 20 kW of running load. Leave headroom for motors: pumps, compressors and aircons draw several times their running current for a moment when they start. If your distribution board has three live phases, look at our three-phase generators instead.
Before you order
- Send us your load list (or a photo of the main DB) and we will confirm the size before you pay.
- Ask for the data-plate standby and prime ratings if the set will run for long periods; size on the prime rating.
- Plan the changeover: the set must be connected through a changeover switch by a registered electrician, who issues the Certificate of Compliance.
- Check where it will stand: level base, airflow around the canopy, and exhaust pointed away from windows.
