In the agricultural seed market, varieties like LAKE 1012 (similar to the 1032 variant) often represent an advanced selection or “Type 2” version of the standard LAKE 101.
While LAKE 101 is a strict “determinate” bush bean, LAKE 1012 is typically characterized as a Semi-Determinate variety. It retains the ultra-fast speed of the 101 but offers slightly more vigorous plant architecture to better handle environmental stress.
Think of this as the “Turbo” version of the 101—it stays compact but packs more power into the mid-season.
Crop Type: Red Speckled Sugar Bean.
Maturity: Ultra-Early (±90–95 days).
Growth Habit: Semi-Determinate Bush Type. Unlike the strict bush (101), the 1012 has a slightly more “searching” habit, allowing it to recover better if hit by early dry spells.
Yield Potential: 2.2 to 2.7 Mt/ha.
Grain Characteristics: Large, oval-to-kidney shape; Tan with high-contrast red speckles.
Planting Density: 200,000 to 250,000 plants/ha.
Key Benefit: Combines the ultra-early harvest window of the 101 with the disease package and resilience of a medium-season bean.
